Australia. Southern Western Australia, southern South Australia, southern New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.

British Occurence

Not a widely kept species in the UK. Unlikely to survive in the wild in Britain as it is unable to survive severe winter weather without protection. One was at Barton marina in Staffordshire in 2013 and presunably the same bird, was at Drakelow NR in Derbyshire in June 2013.
