Status.

Category E

Native Range

Asia. Resident across much of India eastwards to southern China, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia. Birds also breed in Pakistan and eastern China.

Not widely kept in Britain perhaps because they are vulnerable in sub-zero temperatures. They are said not to be prone to wander when kept un-pinioned in open pens. May hybridise with Fulvous Whistling Duck.
