This species and the very similar and once more common Chukar were released for shooting until 1993 since when it has been illegal to do so. Releases may still happen, and there may be surviving birds in the wild along with hybrids between these two and possibly Red-legged Partridge but the likelihood is that Rock Partridge and Chukar are in decline in Britain.
